Spring weather in North Carolina can be unpredictable, and Philip and Lhaiza’s wedding at The Oaks at Salem was a perfect example.
Wind picked up throughout the day, temperatures dropped quickly, and as evening approached, rain was on the way. But what could have become a stressful day turned into a reminder that great weddings aren’t about perfect weather. They’re about preparation, flexibility, and the right people working together when plans have to change.
Thanks to Adrianne Westbrook of Southern Skies Events, everything stayed calm, organized, and on schedule. The ceremony moved indoors without the stress or uncertainty that weather can sometimes bring, leaving Philip and Lhaiza free to enjoy every moment of their wedding day.
A Change of Plans
Although the ceremony moved indoors, it never felt like a compromise. Family and friends gathered together in a warm, intimate setting, and before long it simply felt like the day had always been meant to unfold that way.
Sometimes the best wedding memories come from how everyone adapts when things don’t go exactly as planned, and this was one of those days.
A Relaxed Start to the Evening
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour while spending time with family and friends and taking advantage of the photo booth. It was a relaxed start to the reception and gave everyone an opportunity to create a few more memories before dinner.
As dinner came to a close, conversations slowly gave way to anticipation. It wasn’t long before everyone made their way to the dance floor.
The Party Didn’t Miss a Beat
Once dancing began, the energy arrived early.
The dance floor filled quickly, and for a strong stretch it stayed packed as one song naturally led into the next. Guests stayed engaged, requests blended seamlessly into the evening, and it was easy to see how much fun everyone was having.
As the evening continued, the temperatures dropped even more, and before long the rain arrived. It added a completely different atmosphere to the reception, but it never changed the mood inside. Philip and Lhaiza never stopped smiling, guests stayed as long as they could, and throughout the evening several people stopped by to tell me how much fun they were having.
Weather may change. Plans may have to adapt. But when the right people are working together, the focus stays exactly where it belongs—on celebrating the couple.
Philip and Lhaiza, thank you for trusting Joey’s DJ Service to be part of your wedding day. It was an honor to celebrate with you, and I wish you both a lifetime of happiness together.
