Amy and Joe’s wedding at Ting Stadium in Holly Springs was one of the most unique celebrations I’ve had the chance to DJ.
Instead of a traditional ballroom or barn venue, their wedding took place inside the baseball stadium that is home to the Holly Springs Salamanders. The entire evening made full use of the stadium and created a really memorable experience for everyone there.
The ceremony took place right on the pitcher’s mound. Guests were seated in the stadium seating looking out toward the field while Amy and Joe said their vows.
I handled the ceremony music from the press box, sending the audio through the stadium sound system. Music started playing throughout the stadium before guests arrived, continued through the ceremony, and carried right into cocktail hour.
It was a pretty incredible moment hearing the processional music fill the entire stadium as Amy made her way onto the field.
After the ceremony, guests moved up to the upper concourse along the first base line where dinner was served. Cocktail hour and dinner music continued through the stadium speakers, giving the entire ballpark a relaxed background soundtrack.
One of the fun things about a venue like Ting Park is that the celebration can spread out across the space. Guests could walk around, enjoy the view of the field, and still hear the music throughout the stadium.
When it was time for the dance floor to open, the party moved over to the third base side of the upper concourse.
For the special dances, we turned off the stadium speakers so those moments could stay centered on the dance floor. Amy and Joe shared their first dance as husband and wife, followed by the parent dances.
Once those were finished, the music came back up and the dance floor opened.
Guests who were sitting back along the first base side could still hear soft background music while talking and relaxing, while the energy stayed focused on the dance floor where the party was happening.
It was definitely one of the more unique weddings I’ve been part of, and the entire night felt creative, relaxed, and full of personality.
