Honeysuckle Tea House Wedding DJ | Andrew & Isabel | Chapel Hill, NC

I had the pleasure of celebrating with Andrew and Isabel at the beautiful Honeysuckle Tea House, and it was one of those weddings that perfectly reminds you that every event has its own unique energy.

It was a hot but beautiful day, and their ceremony took place outdoors surrounded by the natural charm that makes Honeysuckle Tea House such a special venue. Everything was set up perfectly and the atmosphere was calm, joyful, and full of anticipation.

During the ceremony, I ran into one of those rare but real challenges. My computer overheated right at the end, and I was not able to play their recessional as planned. Not ideal, but this is where experience matters. Instead of letting the moment slip away, we regrouped and found a better opportunity later in the evening.

After dinner, Andrew and Isabel did something really fun and personal. Rather than going table to table for photos, they invited each table to come to them on the dance floor. While everyone gathered, we played their recessional song, “Married Life” from Up, and it turned into a shared moment where every guest got to experience it together. It ended up being even more meaningful than originally planned.

Cocktail hour was held upstairs inside the tea house with a completely separate setup, while dinner took place outside in their open-air space. As the night transitioned into dancing, we kicked things off strong and had a great dance floor going for about 30 minutes.

One of the highlights of the night was a reverse anniversary dance. Instead of calling couples out based on how long they’ve been married, we invited guests based on how long they had known the couple. From those who have known Andrew and Isabel since they were kids, to those who met them in school, college, and even guests who were meeting them for the first time that day. It was a great way to bring everyone together and celebrate the relationships that shaped their story.

As the night went on, the energy naturally shifted. Between the heat and the relaxed outdoor setting, guests leaned more into conversation and enjoying the evening together rather than staying on the dance floor. Instead of forcing the party, we adjusted the music to match the moment and created more of a laid-back, feel-good atmosphere.

At the end of the night, Andrew came up to me and said something that really stuck with me. He mentioned that while they weren’t out dancing, they were sitting on the lawn with friends, singing along to the music and just enjoying being together. That’s what the night was about for them.

And honestly, that’s what matters most.

Not every wedding is a packed dance floor from start to finish. Sometimes it’s about creating the right soundtrack for the kind of night the couple and their guests truly want. This was one of those nights, and it was a great one.

Andrew and Isabel, thank you again for having me be a part of your day. I hope you’re having an amazing time celebrating at Disney for your honeymoon, and I look forward to hearing all about it when you get back.

What Andrew Had to Say

“Joey DJ’ed our wedding and really was the easiest person to work with and was amazing. He was proactive in his communication, provided templates, and checked in frequently to ensure everything matched our vision. He kept the night running on time, the music was exactly what we imagined, and the vibes were amazing. We wouldn’t hesitate to hire him again.”

Reviews like this mean everything, especially on nights where the focus shifts from a packed dance floor to creating the perfect atmosphere.
