Lindsay and Kyle’s wedding at Whispering Pines Venue in Henderson, North Carolina, was one of those days where everything seemed to come together effortlessly. Beautiful weather, a relaxed atmosphere, thoughtful planning, and guests who were ready to celebrate made the entire day feel easy from beginning to end. I provided music for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception, helping each part of the celebration flow naturally as everyone moved throughout the property.
A Beautiful Ceremony Behind the Lodge
Their ceremony took place on the stone patio behind the lodge, where the retaining wall and surrounding trees created a beautiful natural backdrop. With perfect weather and a quiet setting, the ceremony felt intimate from the moment guests took their seats.
Clear audio and smooth music transitions helped keep everyone’s attention exactly where it belonged—on Lindsay and Kyle as they exchanged their vows. The ceremony space behind the lodge offered a setting that was both elegant and relaxed, making it a wonderful place to begin the day.
Cocktail Hour, Dinner, and an Ice Cream Surprise
After the ceremony, guests made their way through the lodge to the courtyard overlooking the fountain and lake for cocktail hour. Because everyone naturally moved between the indoor and outdoor spaces, I kept music playing in both locations by using a wireless speaker outside while maintaining music inside the lodge.
The transition felt seamless. There were no silent moments or abrupt changes, just a continuous soundtrack that carried guests from one part of the celebration to the next.
Dinner and toasts followed before everyone gathered for cake cutting. Then came one of the most memorable surprises of the evening. Instead of heading straight to the dance floor, an ice cream truck arrived outside to serve dessert.
Guests loved stepping out for a scoop before open dancing officially began. It was a fun addition that kept everyone together and worked perfectly because it happened before the dance floor filled for the rest of the night.
A Reception That Felt Like Them
Before open dancing began, Lindsay and Kyle replaced the traditional anniversary dance with something completely their own.
Rather than inviting married couples onto the dance floor, they asked guests to join them based on how long they had known them. Friends from childhood, classmates from every stage of school, family members, college friends, and coworkers were all welcomed onto the floor as each chapter of their lives was called out.
It quickly filled the dance floor with familiar faces and created one of the most personal moments of the evening before the party officially got underway.
Music had always been important to Lindsay and Kyle, and it showed throughout the entire day. Kyle had carefully built playlists for every part of the celebration, from pre-ceremony through the reception. I expanded on those playlists to keep the same style and energy they envisioned while allowing the music to flow naturally from one part of the evening to the next.
Once open dancing began, the dance floor rarely emptied. The music moved comfortably from country to R&B, rock, and pop, keeping guests of every age involved. Instead of a traditional bouquet toss, Lindsay and Kyle added another personal touch with a t-shirt toss that had everyone reaching into the air and laughing together.
By the end of the night, it was obvious the day reflected exactly who they were. From the personalized dance to the carefully chosen music and packed dance floor, every part of the celebration felt authentic to them.
Thank you, Lindsay and Kyle, for trusting Joey’s DJ Service to be part of your wedding day. It was a pleasure helping bring your vision to life, and I wish you both many years of happiness together.
Kind Words
“Joey went above and beyond our expectations for our wedding DJ. The music was very important to my husband so he had curated pre-set playlists to give to Joey. Joey took my husband’s playlist for the different parts of the day and expanded on them. The vibes were high the whole day.
However, not only did Joey keep the music and energy going, he was also very helpful as a wedding timeline keeper and coordinator. Genuinely, I think he was more helpful than my day-of coordinator from a timeline perspective.
To top everything off, his prices are more than fair. I would recommend Joey 10 out of 10 times.”
